Lorenz Consultancy cup PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 30 June 2009

The Lorenz Consultancy cup is always a very competitive one at Knepp Castle polo club and this year was no different. We had 8 teams entered this year coming from far and wide. The Randox team even made the effort to travel down from Scotland. The polo throughout was closely fought. El Nino looked like favourites early on with a good win on the first day carrying on from their good form last week making the final of the 6 goal. Sciurus-Pilara were also looking good winning 5-1.5 in their first game making them unbeaten in 4 games. A tried and tested Sorzana partnership also won their first game for Silver Fox. Tony Lorenz was also in with a shout to win his own tournament with a very strong team. He even managed to steal Charlie Scott from his father’s team! Tony cruised through his first game and met Sciurus-Pilara in the semi. It was the second time these two had played each other this season and for the second time Sciurus-Pilara came out on top. In the other semi final Silver Fox were going to have to put in a mighty display to beat the visiting El Nino and that is exactly what they did. Ruso and Caio were unstoppable and they ended up winning 8-4.

The final was played in front of at leas 200 guests on a glorious summers day, which now seems to be pretty standard (fingers crossed), with Parke Bradley’s Silver Fox team taking on Sciurus-Pilara. It was a very close game with neither team really having an advantage but Silver Fox came from behind in the last Chukka to win by a half thanks to a missed opportunity by the Sciurus-Pilara team late on.

Grange won the subsidiary final against Bad company, Tony’s team just lost in front of his guests against El Nino and Randox got their first win on English soil with a good win against Complete Music.
